Our mission

3D EAU is an urban hydraulic engineering consultancy based in France. This innovative company applies the know-how developed by the ENGEES-ICUBE fluid mechanics laboratory, affiliated with the University of Strasbourg.

These links with the laboratory are a guarantee of rigor and excellence. In this way, 3D EAU guarantees local authorities the latest technical and technological advances for their wastewater treatment projects.

Since 2014, 3D EAU has been supporting you in  the design, diagnosis and instrumentation of complex hydraulic sites. We work on wastewater management structures, particularly storm overflows.

To carry out its studies, 3D EAU uses 3D hydraulic modeling techniques and artificial intelligence. Initially dedicated to aeronautics, we have adapted it to the water sector. It’s an innovative study methodology that enables a detailed understanding and visualization of the fluid inside hydraulic structures.

In 2020, 3D EAU joins forces with Hydrass. For 30 years, the company has been developing, manufacturing and supplying simple, robust equipment to optimize the operation of wastewater networks. These operational solutions make it possible to reduce spills while facilitating the intervention of operators in the field. These operational solutions are designed and manufactured in our Lyon workshops.

A team at your service !

The 3D EAU team is made up of highly qualified professionals in the field of hydraulic engineering. A professor of hydraulics teaching at ENGEES, eight PhDs and thirteen engineers ensure that the project we submit to you :

  • Meets your needs ;
  • Is in line with the characteristics of your site;
  • Incorporates the latest technical and technological advances;
  • complies with the latest legislative standards and Water Agency requirements.

We specialize in complex hydraulic projects. We use 3D hydraulic modeling and artificial intelligence to offer you innovative and effective solutions. Each member of our team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, enabling us to deliver services of the highest quality to our customers.

The first steps

3D EAU is a spin-off from the ICube laboratory (ENGEES, INSA de Strasbourg, CNRS and Université de Strasbourg).

The project was the brainchild of three people, 2 of whom are still with 3D EAU today:

  • Jonathan Wertel, ENGEES engineer, PhD from Strasbourg University,
  • José Vazquez, ENGEES professor, INSA engineer, PhD from the University of Strasbourg.

The aim of 3D EAU is to apply the 3D modeling know-how developed in the ICUBE laboratory to the study of hydraulic structures such as storm overflows, junction chambers and drop shafts.

History

Awards

  •  2020 : The Seve prize, awarded by the University of Strasbourg and the Eurometropole, is awarded jointly to 3D EAU and its engineer Imane Zidaoui. This prize highlights the initiatives of local companies in the field of ecology.
  • 2016 : LThe design office wins the trophées Alsace innovation, in the Excellence category. 3D modeling is rewarded as a more accurate and less costly alternative.
  • 2015 : 3D EAU wins the Cemerin prize for disaster risk reduction, rewarding the development of a water management technique with a positive environmental impact.
  • 2014 : Winner of the Emergence competition, which supports the creation of innovative technology companies (French Ministry of Higher Education and Research).

The merger with the ALCOM Group

In 2022, 3D EAU and Groupe ALCOM have combined their expertise. The ALCOM Group now comprises four companies specializing in innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence and modeling to preserve the environment and the water cycle. It offers services such as river monitoring, flood diagnosis, optimization of hydraulic sites, vine and forest protection, etc.
